HEROES
301,302 THE SECOND COMING/THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT
“VOLUME 3: VILLAINS” MAKES A TWO-HOUR SPECIAL DEBUT WITH REVELATIONS THAT WILL REDEFINE FAMILIAR CHARACTERS AND SHAKE THE SERIES TO ITS CORE — The first chapter of “Volume 3: Villains” kicks off moments after shots rang out, as the shocking identity of Nathan’s (Adrian Pasdar) assassin and the reasons why the Texas press conference had to be cut short are revealed — immediately throwing Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and Matt (Greg Grunberg) into unexpected, uncharted territory. With his powers partially restored, Sylar (Zachary Quinto) decides a visit to Claire (Hayden Panettiere) could give him a boost. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando (James Kyson Lee) are charged with safeguarding a family secret that could split the planet apart, and discover that the path to a grim future starts with shady speedster, Daphne (guest star Brea Grant). In New York City, thanks to Maya (Dania Ramirez), Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) makes a startling breakthrough that could change the world — or just destroy his. And who is Tracy Strauss? In the shocking second chapter of “Volume 3: Villains,” Angela (Cristine Rose) confronts her much-changed son, Peter, as the bursts of violence around them only hint to the catastrophes to come. First, Sylar declares war on the Company by attacking their main facility, and finds even more than he bargained for on Level 5. During a devastating battle with Elle (guest star Kristen Bell), a dozen savage criminals — all with terrible abilities — escape. Meanwhile, Claire discovers something new and unexpected about her abilities. Determined to reclaim his family’s terrible secret, Hiro and Ando track Daphne (guest star Brea Grant) to Paris. After a fateful night, Suresh is thrilled to find his research, his life and his relationship with Maya evolving in leaps and bounds. Stuck in unfamiliar territory, Matt finds a guide (guest star Ntare Mwine) to help him. Ali Larter and Jack Coleman star.

Heroes’ Bell To Get Backstory
Kristen Bell, who plays Elle Bishop on NBC’s Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that her character will be undergoing plenty of development this season–and that she may have previously unknown connections to the others.
“I actually like where [the writers have] taken the whole storyline this year for everybody, including Elle,” said Bell, who will reprise the character, first introduced last season, for 13 more episodes.
Elle is a mysterious young woman who possesses electrical powers and is the daughter of Robert Bishop (Stephen Tobolowsky), the head of the Company, which tracks down people with powers. Because she was left in seclusion for years, Elle appears to be mentally unstable and antisocial.
“They’re showing more of her human side,” Bell said. “She’s this vaguely barbaric, unfeeling, antisocial adaptive killer who’s coy. However, she’s had some tough decisions to make [over the years, and the writers are] giving her more depth. There are flashback scenes showing that she’s intricately woven into people’s lives before you met her. She met a lot of [the characters] before she was introduced on the show.”
A fan of Heroes since her days as the title character on The CW’s Veronica Mars, Bell said that she believes the show appeals to people because they “enjoy being challenged rather than [sitting] in front of the TV semi-sedated. It keeps you guessing. It’s highly dramatic and fiercely unrealistic, yet presented in a way you can believe. It grabs your attention and won’t let go.”
When asked which of her characters–Elle or Veronica Mars–would win in a fight, Bell laughed.
“In a fair fight, Veronica. In a dirty fight–hands down–Elle,” Bell said. “I’m gonna vote for good rather than evil and say Veronica.” Source: SCIFI
Spock & Sylar - Zachary Quinto On Playing Heroes & Villains
In two short years, Sylar has proven to be one of the most dangerous individuals in the Heroes universe. He has terrorized those around him, sliced open skulls, consumed their abilities, and murdered without mercy. Then during season two, a depowered Sylar still managed to pull people’s strings like a master puppeteer before returning to all his glory in the finale.
With the third season of Heroes kicking off on September 22nd, Sylar himself, actor Zachary Quinto, participated in a press conference to reflect on his character and the looming darkness on the series.
And oh yeah, he also spoke briefly about playing an certain iconic Vulcan in J.J. Abrams upcoming big screen Star Trek relaunch. READ THE INTERVIEW on Newsarama

Sylar’s Past Revealed
Serial killer Sylar will return this season to Heroes during its highly anticipated two-hour premiere. But, will we see more of his pre-evil alter ego, Gabriel Gray?
According to Zachary Quinto, he’d love to see as much of Sylar’s background as possible. He confirmed that Gray will return this season, revisiting the “shades of that character as you first saw him.”
The first time we learned of Sylar’s past was in the first season’s episode “Six Months Ago” in which Chandra Surresh tells watch repairman Gray that he may have super powers. When Gray learns of his real power, which is stealing other people’s abilities, he uses them to kill off other “heroes.” Surresh figures out Sylar’s killing streak and becomes one of his victims.
In “Volume 3: Villains,” creator Tim Kring intimates that by using Gray, the show will continue to “peel the layers off of that onion as long as this character exists on the show.”

Ali Larter talks about her new character turns
“Everyone this year is just a little bit darker,” Larter said. “It’s a little bit faster. It’s a little bit more complicated and somehow it all just gels. I don’t know how these writers are able to really interlock all these characters the way that they do, but they do an incredible job at it. I’ve gotten to work with some of them this year and it’s fun. It’s fun when you see them on set and with all of us who already have such a history you get to bring that to the roles.”
Season three has brought Larter and Hayden Panettiere together for the first time. “I’d never worked with her before so that’s really fun and we’re all kind of sitting on the sofa and hanging out. There’s something nice about the familiarity that you get when you’re on a show for this many years. We just had the littlest bit, but I have such respect for her as an actress. I think she’s incredible and I hope that we get to work together more. I think that you can fit us both in a scene, you can fit us in there so lets do it.”
With all the developments going on this year, don’t worry if you’ve missed out on the first two seasons. Larter says you can catch up pretty easily.
“I think what’s great about this year is that we are going back to kind of the root of the first season, to the core of it, which is the original characters that I think people really started to respond to and relate to. I think this year is just going to be fast. I think you better hold on tight because it’s going to be a ride. It’s going to be a really good year.”
Of course she’ll still be kicking some ass. “They always make us pretty physical. That’s part of our show, that we can do things that you can’t. I love doing that stuff, but I have an incredible stunt double named Kristin and she comes in and makes me look good. We do as much as we can and then we let the professionals come in.”

Recap of the Premiere Party info thanks to ODI on SpoilerTV
1) According to Tim Kring, all the new characters fold into existing main character storylines, rather than having their own stories right off the bat. (Can I get a hell yes?)
2) Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando (James Kyson Lee) are together again, on a quest for the mysterious “Formula” (the significance of which will be explained in episode five). According to Lee, their mission takes them to Bora Bora, Zimbabwe and lovely downtown Bakersfield, Calif.
3) According to Ali Larter, there is “something of a scientific basis” for the explanation of how Niki (who was killed in a fire in the season-two finale) and Tracy Strauss (her current character) appear to be identical.
4) According Malcolm McDowell, it was Linderman who recruited the Speedster (Brea Grant) to be a minion of evil.
5) It’s OK with Adrian Pasdar if you want to call him President Petrelli.

It’ll be just like The Jetsons! Except, you know,no flying contraptions needed. This is a future I’m looking forward to ’cause the traffic on the 405 is killing me. Emma in Cedar Rapids, Iowa: Can you tell me anything more about Ali Larter’s character’s powers on Heroes? You know the reporter played by William Katt of Greatest American Hero who confronts “Tracy Strauss” (Ali Larter) with evidence that she’s actually “Niki Saunders”? Well, there’s a reason he’s only in one episode, and that reason is that someone kills him by accident. (Wait a minute, could Ali be playing a character with a lethal power? Noooo!) Also, after Tracy begins to believe the reporter might be Villains Spoilers The ‘Heroes’ Creator on Recapturing Its Mojo in Season 3 Newsarama: Tim, Heroes was so embraced by critics and fans in the first season. Do you think it was judged too harshly in season two and is that something that you worry about moving on? Are you always going to be held to a higher standard just because it was such a hit critically and with fans early on? Tim Kring: You know that is always the nature of something that hits in a big, very zeitgeist kind of way. It’s very hard to be shiny and new all the time. And so of course, that’s something that always concerns us but there’s not a whole lot we can do. We just make the story that we make. Read the article on Newsarama Q&A: Heroes Answers Promised When the hit show returns after a prolonged absence on Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, it will also move quickly into an entirely new story arc, Kring promised. Kring and Quinto spoke with reporters in a Sept. 5 conference call about the first 13 episodes of the new season, “Volume 3,” subtitled “Villains.” The first two hours of the season will consist of the episodes “The Second Coming” and “The Butterfly Effect.” Following is an edited version of the conference call. Tim Kring, the first hour of Volume 3 answers a number of unanswered questions from last year but also leaves a few still dangling and sets up new questions. How deep into the season will it be before we get an understanding of what’s going on? Kring: Some of those questions will linger a little bit, but I think, actually, by the end of the third hour of the show you’ll have kind of most of those [answers]. I mean, one of the goals of this season–because we’ll have been off the air for nine months–we didn’t want to drag a lot of story behind us, and we didn’t want to feel like you had to have watched two years of this show to catch up. So we wanted to answer things really quickly so that you could move forward on this volume and have a kind of clean path in front of you. So there really are not a lot of lingering questions that you carry with you from before. The goal for us from now on with these volumes is to try to answer literally 95 percent of the questions that are posed in the beginning of the volume … by the end of the volume. This particular volume, “Villains,” is 13 episodes long. Read the rest on SCIFI Wire

Questions About Heroes
Nathaniel in Washington, D.C.: What can you tell me about Heroes’ future?
right about her real identity, she sets off to find the doctor who delivered her, in hopes that he can tell her more about her origins. She finds out at summer camp she has an identical twin, and they set off on a mischievious but adorable mission to get their parents to reunite. Or wait, that last sentence may have been from another story.
Considering it’s never been easy to distinguish between the good and the bad on Heroes, having the series kick off its upcoming third season with a 13 episode volume entitled “Villains” seems appropriate enough. Promos prominently featuring a dark Claire about to go all Rambo on her uncle Peter blur those thin lines even further. Refereeing those constant moral struggles and dark impulses is none other than series creator/Executive Producer Tim Kring, who recently met the press to address the return of Heroes on September 22nd and how this could be its best year yet.
Tim Kring, executive producer of NBC’s Heroes, and star Zachary Quinto (Sylar) promised that many of the lingering questions from the truncated second season will be answered by the end of the third hour of the upcoming third season. The new season will also focus more on the core characters–and expect to see the return of Sylar’s alter ego, Gabriel Gray.
