‘Wizard’s First Rule’ Changes Name
ABC’s syndication unit has retitled its upcoming adventure series “Wizard’s First Rule” to “Legend of the Seeker,” the producers announced today at Comic-Con. The reason: The old title reflected one book in the series of books upon which the show is based.
“Legend of the Seeker” marks ABC Studios’ first foray into broadcast syndication. The first-run, one-hour weekly series has been sold into 95% of U.S. markets.
Disney-ABC Domestic Television also announced that actors Bruce Spence, Jay Laga’aia and Craig Parker will join the cast, which is led by Craig Horner and Bridget Regan.

Legend of the Seeker had a panel at Comic Con on Thursday - I really wanted to attend this one but we didn’t come in until Friday.
IGN has a great write-up of the panel that they were able to attend. Here’s a little bit of what they had to say:

Although the series has only been shooting for four days, they managed to bring a few glimpses of some action footage as well. There were shots of swordfights, Kahlen using magic, and a man jumping off of a horse swinging his sword and having the frame slow down mid-swing, a la 300. The action certainly looked exciting and had a “big” feel to it. It didn’t seem like a cheap syndicated TV series by any means. Granted, this is footage specially prepared for the series’ first look offered up to fans – and the press. Nonetheless – if people were expecting a shoddy production, that does not seem to be the case. After all, not only have Tappert and Raimi had years to learn from the days of Xena, but there is likely a difference in what you can demand with the Spider-Man franchise at your back.
