Today is my big X-files update! The movie I Want to Believe opens on Friday and I could not be more excited. Seeing Mulder and Scully again will be like re-connecting with old friends.

Last week the Smithsonian Museum opened a new exhibit including X-Files memorabilia into the American History Museum. This is where the original Kermit the Frog , Dorothy’s red shoes and other Hollywood icons reside. Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz were both on hand for the ceremony. We have photos in the MV Gallery.

We have HQ photos from the press conference held on Monday for the movie- see our gallery for pics!
SCI-FI Wire has been covering I Want to Believe since the news first came out that the film was in the works. This week there have been two articles about the movie on their site.
Few Familiar Faces In X-Files 2
The X-Files creator Chris Carter, who directed the upcoming sequel film subtitled I Want to Believe, told reporters that he wanted the film to be stripped down to its essence–the relationship between Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson)–and that he therefore had to pare away any of the TV series’ mythology, which fans may be clamoring for.
“We wanted to make this as pure a movie as we could, you know, about Mulder and Scully, how [they] are the essence of The X-Files,” Carter said in a news conference in Beverly Hills, Calif., over the weekend. “And I spoke earlier about how struck we were by their relationship and their emotional story, returning to the show after such a long absence.”
And that means fans shouldn’t expect to see a lot of their favorite characters from the show to appear or to get any answers to any of the show’s lingering mysteries. “The more characters you bring in from the past, the more explaining you have to do,” Carter said. “And the more it gets wrapped up in the mythology of the show. And so in this movie we wanted to keep it as simple as we could, and there are many, many more characters that we talked about [that] we would have loved to have brought back in this movie, but ultimately, as you know, there was only room for one, and it’s not a sign of a lack of affection or enthusiasm for the others.” READ THE REST BY CLICKING HERE

X-Files Stars Get Reacquainted
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the stars of the upcoming The X-Files: I Want to Believe, told reporters that they went through a reacquaintance period taking on their old roles of former FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
Duchovny, who hadn’t played Mulder in more than six years, spent the first couple of weeks on the movie chasing a bad guy through the wintry streets of Vancouver, Canada, in 2007. “That took, like, a good full two weeks of running, even though I know it’s only about 10 seconds of the movie,” Duchovny said in a news conference in Beverly Hills, Calif., last weekend. “And then Gillian and I started working after Christmas break, and the first two weeks, I … felt a little awkward. I didn’t really feel like I wanted to do longer scenes. I was just fine with running around.”
But as soon as Anderson and Duchovny began working together, Duchovny said that he began to feel more comfortable in Mulder’s skin. “As soon as Gilly and I started working, and it was Mulder and Scully, then I kind of remembered what it was all about,” he said. “And, you know, that relationship kind of anchored my performance, just as I think the relationship anchors this film.” READ THE REST HERE

Gillian Anderson was on Jay Leno last night and we have some HD caps from her appearance in our gallery.
You can watch her interview right here!
There have been two new trailers that have been running in the last few days that include nice shots of X-Zibit , Amanda, David, Gillian and Billy Connolly. The first is a short teaser and the second is a longer trailer.

Amanda Peet was on David Letterman last night - we have photos of her arriving at the studio in our gallery. We will have video on this appearance tomorrow or so. She was incredibly nervous and the first half of the interview dealt with Amanda and her extreme stage fright. This is why Johnny Carson kept lots of booze in the green room in his day- a loaded guest is a relaxed guest.
Gillian and David were on the CBS EARLY show this morning- we have some caps from the appearance in our gallery and I will try to grab video. More video from their ongoing press coverage to come in the days ahead!
As we are off to Comic Con I will not be posting video from the weekend until next week- be sure to check in with our affiliate Duchovny.net for David’s appearances- they are great about getting those up right away!
