SciFi Wire has reported that Bruce Boxleitner has been cast in a top secret recurring role on Heroes. Bruce is no stranger to sci-fi after spending time on Babylon-5. He is one of my fave guys so I am very excited about this! His wife Melissa Gilbert was on one of the longest running series ever on NBC ( Little House on the Prairie) so maybe when he is done on Heroes Bruce may be picked up for another NBC show with him in the lead down the road? I am still waiting for Scarecrow and Mrs. King to come to DVD! NBC’s Chuck reminds me of that classic 80s spy show that Bruce starred in with Kate Jackson.

I am guessing Bruce will be a good guy- not one of the villains…..but we will have to wait and see. He was seen in the recent SCI-FI Channel Saturday movie of the week “Bone Eater” along with Buck Rogers himself Gil Gerard. Bruce has kept busy since Babylon 5 ended doing an assortment of sci-fi, western and romantic thriller TV movies. Any of you old enough to remember the 70s know where his background in westerns comes from- he was Luke Macahan in 1979’s ABC’s TV series version of the western classic “How the West Was Won” also starring western great James Arness. Bruce went on to a memorable role in the TV mini-series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “East of Eden” where Bruce played the dark and moody Charles Trask against Jane Seymour and Timothy Bottoms ( also not available on DVD) . Bruce should make a good addition to Heroes which likes to cast people with varied backgrounds though I doubt he will be required to shoot a rifle from horseback on Heroes.
