It seems like all of the negative buzz on Justice League: Mortal, from questions about casting to George Miller’s problems with Australia’s tax rebate, to poor reviews of the script have taken their toll. According to CHUD, producer Joel Silver says that Justice League: Mortal is tabled for now.
Does this mean we’ll never see a Justice League movie? Not at all. But it does mean that it’ll probably be some time before there is any new forward movement on the film, and it will likely have a different script and cast. Perhaps Warner Bros. and DC will take a page from Marvel’s book, and try to use Brandon Routh and Christian Bale as the center-piece of a Justice League film.
Watch the video that came out in August of 2007 when IESB.net reported things were going well and Tom Welling was slated to appear as Superman in the movie- things have gone nothing but downhill for the production since then. Millar & Gough reportedly wouldn’t release Welling to star and the studio did not find a suitable Superman substitute. Lets see which gets made first- a new Bryan Singer Superman Flick or a live action Justice League movie. My bet is on a third Batman installment.
Way back in January we were already hearing the movie may be cancelled so this is not surprising news.
