Cheese of the week straight to DVD movie alert! April 15 is not only tax day but the release date for a new straight to DVD movie starring Brian Krause ( Charmed) , Don Davis ( Stargate SG-1) and Paul McGillion ( Stargate Atlantis) . Shot in Canada a Nessie type creature has been let loose and is causing havoc in a small lakeside community. Krause is the cryptobiologist who is on the scene to figure out what the creature is. Looks like fun from the clips and previews. I am a fan of these B movies- not too much gore and they don’t tend to take themselves overly seriously.
I am glad to see Brian is working - I think he could be a great addition any number of sci-fi shows now on the air. His character Leo Wyatt on Charmed had the same kind of appeal that his co-star in this film McGillion’s Doctor Beckett has. He was the nice guy who every woman wants to come home to and men feel comfortable hanging out with and talking sports and trucks.
Loch Ness Terror was produced by the same company responsible for a host of SCIFI channel flicks so do not be surprised if this movie shows up on the SCIFI Saturday schedule sometime in the future.
Official IMDB Movie description:
James Murphey (Brian Krause) is a rugged cryptozoologist, who thirty years earlier, during a trip to Loch Ness, Scotland, had a fatal encounter with the fabled “Nessie” creature that killed his father, and left James with deep facial scar. Twenty years later, James is hunting for Nessie, when his search leads him to the sleepy town of Pike Island, Ashburn, on Lake Superior. Hiring Josh Riley (Niall Matter) as his guide, James and Josh bond over their mutual scientific interests and deceased fathers, while James tries to convince Josh’s mother, Sheriff Karen Riley (Carrie Genzel), that the 60-foot plesiosaur is killing and breeding.
