We just got the title for the next to final episode of Supernatural for season 3, final episode title has not yet been announced though there are spoilers out on it thanks to the producers. See my earlier SN news for those.

This season will be laid out much like the previous ones with the annual joke episode Ghostfacers premiering series wise after one of the most serious “Jus in Bello”. “Long Distance Caller” will be a solid horror offering with character development and storyline development for both Dean and Sam. The producers have said the finale will delve into Dean and his deal with the demon and how he can possibly escape, in the meantime we should see Sam facing his own demons.

There are a number of loose ends we may or may not see played out as well. Bella has the Colt and her own dark secret- remember ‘Red Sky at Morning”. Ruby talked to Sam early in the season about Mary Winchester and her friends and how they are all dead alluding to some nefarious maternal secrets. This is in line with Sam and his vision from the end of season 2 where he saw that Mary knew the yellow eyed demon when he spoke to her. We found out in “Malleus Maleficarum” that Ruby was a witch and went to hell for her sins and that dark witches serve demons- see the Puritans knew a thing or two! Are we going to learn more about mom and if she dabbled in the dark arts?

How can any of this save Dean from going to HELL?  Stay tuned as I am sure Supernatural will have us at the edges of our seats until the very end of the season and the very end of the finale! At least we know that there will be a fourth season thanks to the CW picking the show up for another year along with Smallville early this year in March.

Between now and the airings of new episodes:

Last night the CW brought back Supernatural to their Thursday night line up and boy did that make me happy! After waiting over a year DirecTV finally added an HD feed for my local CW station here in Phoenix so I could finally see the boys in HD. I am looking forward to re-iewing the latest episodes in HD and seeing the final ones in this way as well. Last night the episode was the witchy treat “Malleus Maleficarum”. Episode ended with Dean and demon Ruby having a heart to heart about what happens when you go to hell.

Next week the network is once again showing the episode “Dream a Little Dream” which will be key to the end of the season as we see Bella steal the Colt, and Dean face himself and decide he really doesn’t want to go to hell.

I am guessing the final episode we will see in repeats was the ratings hit , zombie filled, demon spectacular episode “Jus in Bello” which has the guys fighting a huge battle in the demon war. The unexpected foe that shows herself at the end of the episode will be key to the final episodes of the season.
